- Provide compassionate and supportive care to pregnant women during labor, childbirth, and the immediate postpartum period, assessing maternal and fetal well-being and monitoring vital signs, uterine contractions, and fetal heart rate patterns.
- Assist obstetricians, midwives, and other healthcare providers during vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and other obstetric procedures, ensuring adherence to sterile technique and safety protocols.
- Administer medications, pain relief measures, and intravenous fluids as prescribed, advocating for women's preferences and pain management options while ensuring maternal and fetal safety.
- Educate expectant mothers and their families about childbirth processes, pain management techniques, breastfeeding, newborn care, and postpartum recovery, promoting informed decision-making and empowering women in their birth experiences.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, including obstetricians, neonatologists, anesthesiologists, and support staff, to ensure coordinated care and optimal outcomes for mother-baby dyads.
- Provide emotional support, reassurance, and guidance to women and their partners throughout the childbirth journey, addressing their concerns, fears, and preferences with empathy and understanding.
- Assist with newborn assessments, initial newborn care procedures, and breastfeeding initiation, promoting bonding and attachment between mothers and babies in the immediate postpartum period.
- Document nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely in electronic health records (EHR) systems, maintaining confidentiality and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, evidence-based practice projects, and ongoing professional development activities to enhance clinical competencies and promote excellence in obstetric nursing care.
- Adhere to ethical standards, professional guidelines, and institutional policies related to labor and delivery nursing practice, ensuring patient safety, privacy, and dignity at all times.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required.
- Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in Clinical Nursing.
- 2 years experience in Labor and Delivery Nursing.
- Must be eligible to take the SCFHS exam.
- Preferably with valid SCFHS Nursing Specialist/Technician license/certificate.
- Current licensure as a professional registered nurse.
- Proficient in English
