- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ mental health status, including psychological, social, and emotional factors, utilizing standardized assessment tools and clinical judgment.
- Develop individualized nursing care plans in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members, incorporating evidence-based interventions and therapeutic modalities to address patients’ psychiatric and behavioral needs.
- Administer psychiatric medications, monitor therapeutic responses, and assess for adverse effects, following prescribed protocols and medication management guidelines.
- Provide psychoeducation to patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, medication management, coping strategies, and community resources, promoting patient and family engagement in care.
- Facilitate therapeutic groups, counseling sessions, and crisis interventions to support patients in managing symptoms, improving coping skills, and achieving treatment goals.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other mental health professionals to coordinate care, develop treatment plans, and ensure continuity of care across settings.
- Monitor patients’ safety, assess for risk of self-harm or harm to others, and implement appropriate interventions to ensure a safe therapeutic environment.
- Document nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely in electronic health records (EHR) systems, maintaining confidentiality and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care outcomes and program effectiveness.
- Engage in ongoing professional development activities, including continuing education, training in evidence-based practices, and participation in professional organizations related to behavioral health nursing.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required.
- Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in Clinical Nursing.
- 2 years experience in Mental/Behavioral Health Nursing.
- Must be eligible to take the SCFHS exam.
- Preferably with valid SCFHS Nursing Specialist/Technician license/certificate.
- Current licensure as a professional registered nurse.
- Proficient in English
