Duties and Responsibilities:
1-Performs the following therapeutic procedures:
A. Administers chest physical therapy including: breathing exercises with or without the use of incentive spirometers, chest
percussion massage, cough training and postural drainage.
B. Administers therapeutic gases including oxygen using different oxygen administration equipment.
C. Administers bland or medication aerosols and humidification using a variety of techniques and equipment.
D. Performs nasotrachealttracheobronchial aspiration.
E. Performs Intermittent positive pressure breathing (IPPB)
F. Monitoring patients on mechanical ventilation.2-Assists in performing the following therapeutic procedures:
A. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
B. Safe transportation of ventilator or oxygen dependent patients.
C. Augments ventilation by applying all forms of positive or negative invasive and non-invasive mechanical support
systems.
D. Emergent tracheostomy/endotracheal tube replacement.
E. Weaning from mechanical ventilation.
F. CPAP trials for patients with Sleep Apnea Hypopnea Syndrome (SANS)
G. Assists pulmonologist with bronchoscopies for mechanically ventilated patients (therapeutic purposes).
H. Chest (intercostals) tube procedures.
3- Performs in performing the fallowing diagnostic procedures: A'.Pulse oximetry both at rest and after effort.
B. Bedside spirometry and Peak Flow Rate monitoring.
C. Performs sputum induction by hypertonic saline nebulization.
4- Assists in performing the following diagnostic procedures:
A. Simple spirometry, post bronchodilator test, measurement of lung volumes and diffusion studies.
B. Arterial punctures and care for arterial lines.
C. Assists pulmonologist with bronchoscopies for mechanically ventilated patients (diagnostic purposes).
5- Verifies all ordered respiratory care against the Doctors Order prior to administration. Records all respiratory care procedures performed in the patient's chart and in department logs in an accurate and timely manner.
Evaluates the proper application of the equipment/care modality per the patient's condition, monitors the effectiveness of respiratory care modalities, assesses for side effects of therapy and charts corresponding data properly.
Performs all duties in accordance with departmental policies and procedures; maintains the ability to perform competently in all clinical areas and with all age groups.QualificationsJOB REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:Education: Bachelor's degree in Respiratory TherapyExperience: More than 2 years experience in Respiratory Care UnitsLanguage: Good command of oral and written EnglishRequired Licenses/Registrations: License by the Saudi Council for Health Care Specialties, BLS and ACLS certified
