JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Senior Fellow - Petrochemicals will cover developments in the downstream oil and gas industry as it relates to the petrochemical supply chain. This includes analysis of the supply and demand of feedstocks, chemicals and plastics, and their economic feasibility/margins and trade prospects. The Fellow will also analyze the role of technology and policy in enhancing the long-run sustainability of the petrochemical industry, and assess the challenges and opportunities for the industry in Saudi Arabia and abroad; e.g., the effects of ESG, the circular carbon economy and the energy transition.Responsibilities:Analyze the effects of feedstocks and products demand and supply dynamics on pricingMonitor evolving market trends on new and expanded petrochemical capacitiesFollow the impact of the energy transition on integration opportunities between refining and petrochemical operationsEvaluate the roles of trade and environmental policies on petrochemical sector investmentsAnalyze the implications of existing and emerging regulations and producer responsibility requirements on petrochemical derivatives and plastics marketsInvestigate impacts of circular economy models within the petrochemical value chain, including waste managementDesign and conduct applied research on the above topicsPrepare publications (reports, market analysis, research papers)Contribute to advisory projects for the Saudi energy sectorCompetencies & Qualifications:Master's degree or Ph.D. in Economics, Engineering, or energy-related relevant fieldsMin 8-10 years of research or industry experience in the downstream and petrochemical sectorsGood command of techno-economic and/or modeling analysis of petchem sectorConsultancy experience would be an advantageExperience of working in multidisciplinary and multicultural teamsGood communication skills and enthusiastic team player
