Conduct conceptual, FEED (Front End Engineering Design), and detailed analyses and designs in accordance with the project's design basis, specifications, and relevant design codes and standards. Lead the Engineering team as a Lead Engineer for smaller projects. Apply expertise to address various standard and nonstandard scenarios. Produce precise and comprehensive detailed design calculations, analyses, design reports, and procedures.Responsibilities:
- Acquire a comprehensive understanding of the project scope, specifications, schedule, and inter-discipline requirements.
- Identify concerns early and proactively address issues.
- Promptly identify and communicate changes to the project scope, raising change notifications with supporting documentation and estimates. Offer similar support for Variation Orders.
- Collaborate with all disciplines to develop clash-free designs.
- Interface with other departments to gather input for Discipline designs and drawings.
- Maintain close coordination with other engineering disciplines, Planning, and the Project Management Team as needed.
- Document substantive communications leading to significant decisions or assignments of actions, forwarding copies to the Discipline Lead Engineer and Discipline Manager.
- Assist in estimating bid proposals, conducting technical query reviews, executing statements, and estimating man-hours.
- Raise technical queries to obtain missing information, clarify work scope, and uphold preferred McDermott procedures, specifications, standards, practices, and operational requirements.
- Prepare Discipline engineering design basis, philosophies, and technical specifications as required.
- Participate in finalizing deliverables lists, ensuring compliance with specifications and maintaining functional integrity.
- Attend project review meetings, vendor meetings, engineering meetings, and offshore site surveys as required.
- Provide technical direction and review for Designers in the production of products related to Process Engineering.
- Prepare and review design reports and procedures.
- Assist in providing necessary design inputs to other disciplines to enable progress with their deliverables.
- Review vendor and subcontractor submittals, checking for compliance with project specifications and providing comments as necessary.
- Guide less experienced engineers on MDR and Discipline procedures, standards, worksheets, design calculations, software usage, requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and technical queries.
- Check engineering work performed by others within the Discipline.
- Stay aware of costs related to own work and the discipline.
- Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
- Take responsibility for preparing/checking key deliverables, applicable to the project scope:
- Process simulations / Heat and material balances.
- Process flow diagrams (PFD).
- Piping and instrument diagrams (P&ID).
- Process safeguarding diagrams.
- Equipment and instrument process datasheets.
- Process specifications.
- Operating philosophy and startup and operating manuals.
- Equipment list (process data).
- Line list (process data).
- Equipment and line sizing calculations.
- Flare radiation and dispersion calculations.
- Depressurization and flare network studies.Minimum Qualifications and Educational Requirements:- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering.
- 10-15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry with a major contractor or consultant, predominantly focused on detailed design, including a minimum of 5 years of experience in offshore projects.
- Hands-on and up-to-date experience with various process engineering tools such as Aspen HYSYS, Flare Analyzer, EDR, Pipesim, and Pipenet. Intermediate level experience in PROMAX is a prerequisite.
- Working knowledge of OLGA and/or substantial experience in interpreting outputs, raising RFQs, and managing flow assurance performed by third-party contractors.
- Strong familiarity with diverse design techniques, analysis methods, and a detailed understanding of the content and application of relevant standards, codes, and guidelines.Preferred Qualifications and Educational Background:
- Preferably a Registered Professional Engineer or a member of a professional engineering society, as applicable.STRAGO is an equal employment opportunity employer.
