- Completion of failure analysis testing.
- Advising design engineers on materials selection for new plants and manufacturing quality verification.
- Supporting operations and maintenance engineers with welding procedures, repair and replacement decisions.
- Advice and guidance for functions such as process, mechanical, and machinery engineers.
- External networking and literature monitoring to bring in industry best practices and identify promising new materials or technologies to address materials challenges faced by the company.
- Materials safety a primary objective.
- Use of standard software tools to compile data, write reports, and present recommendations to key technical and business stakeholders.
- Job incumbent is expected to have a minimum of a master's or PHD Degree in Materials Engineering or as an alternative Mechanical Engineering with a materials focus.
- Job incumbent is expected to have some work experience in materials.
- Experience and knowledge of the following would be ideal;
- failure analysis
- practical applications of materials in cryogenic service
- challenges faced by materials in high temperature service
- nonferrous alloys
- carbon and low alloy steels
- corrosion fundamentals
- welding fundamentals
- Field experience working in a plant setting, especially in maintenance, inspection, and/or repair of equipment is favorable.
- The ideal candidate will have experience working on cross-functional teams, and a proven ability to lead teams and contribute as a team member.
- Fluency in written and spoken English is a necessity to ensure skilled interaction with colleagues in all global locations.
